Direct Domestic Flights to Alaska (No Passport Required for US Citizens)
Because Alaska is the 49th US state, US citizens flying directly to Alaska from another US state do NOT need a passport. You only need a standard REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state ID.
Driving to Alaska Through Canada (Passport Mandatory)
If you drive to Alaska via the Alaska Highway (AlCan), you must cross the Canadian border twice. A valid passport book or passport card is strictly required by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
