For US passports and visa applications (including DS-160 and Green Card / DV Lottery), the official requirements are exactly 2×2 inches (51×51 mm), or 600×600 pixels to 1200×1200 pixels at 300 DPI for digital uploads. The file size must be less than or equal to 240 KB in standard sRGB JPEG format. The biometric head height (measured from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head/hair) must be between 1 inch and 1.375 inches (50% to 69% of total image height), with the eye axis positioned between 56% and 69% from the bottom edge.
